Let's get you speaking about your business.

When you’re sitting down to hit record on your camera to film a video for your biz, do you ever feel forced to create something that you’re just not really excited about?

Maybe you’ve been scrolling through your Instagram Reels and TikTok videos, thinking, “I don’t really wanna do this but I feel like I have to.” Or maybe you’re watching a beautifully shot and edited YouTube video and thinking, “My video is never gonna look like that.”

Whether it’s FOMO, imposter syndrome, or pressure to keep up with trends on social media, your feelings are totally normal. And unfortunately, they can suck the fun out of creating content in the first place!

Fear not: I’m here to share three ways to make videos fun for you and your audience.

Tip #1: Make a video just for you

Of course, you want to keep your audience in mind for your overall video strategy. You’re making videos for them, after all. But always keeping your audience in mind while filming can put so much pressure on the outcome of a video that it leaves us feeling stuck.

If you go into filming a video with the mindset “I am simply filming this for myself and to express myself, it makes creating the video so much more fun! You feel freer to enjoy the process and less held back by what you “should” be doing.

Tip #2: Switch up your filming routine

This tip comes from personal experience! When I get into a filming rut, it typically means that I need to switch things up. I’m just not excited about how my background looks on camera anymore, or I want to film at a different time of day when I have more energy or room in my schedule.

If you’re tired of your filming routine, try a new filming location or time of day. Remember, it takes a lot of energy to go on camera and film videos for your business. You should have an environment that boosts your creative flow and works for you, not against you.

Tip #3: Watch videos that inspire you

It is so easy to get caught up in mindless scrolling of videos that don’t inspire you. Instead, these videos make you compare yourself to them, or make you think that you’re not doing enough with your own content.

Find videos by online creators that leave you feeling inspired about your own video process! For me, I get inspired by videos in other industries that have nothing to do with my business. I see how much fun these creators are having and how personally fulfilled they are, and I want to have that same experience.

When you watch inspiring videos from other industries and creators, you realize there’s no right or wrong way to film videos. There is only your video, and you can have as much fun filming and editing and promoting the video as you want!
